Mary O’Malley received her MFA in 2005 from SVA, New York and her BFA in 1997 from MassArt, Boston. Mary’s work combines a fascination with nature with a love of pattern, decoration, and ornamentation.
“My work begins with a fascination with nature combined with a love of pattern, decoration, and ornamentation. Inspired by folk art, decorative arts, and textiles, the Still Life series explores the traditional genre of still life painting, each composition existing in an imagined maximalist world that is characterized by flat planes of bold color, pops of neon and gold, and pattern.” – MO
